The Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT) awarded Fluor the project management contract (PMC) in 2006 for this very large ethane separation plant at Rayong, on the east coastal region of Thailand.

PTT chose us to evaluate the bids of the lump sum engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors and manage the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. One of the world's largest gas processing facilities, it is capable of producing 800 million standard cubic feet a day.

As well as gas receiving facilities, the facility incorporates CO2 removal, triethylene glycol gas drying, ethane separation and sales gas compression.

There are 12 major columns on the project, which include a 500-metric ton absorber column, a regenerator eight meters in diameter and a 140-meter high concrete stack, which was constructed using a continuous-pour, slip form method. Associated utilities and offsites include power generation, power substations and waste heat recovery.
