Batteries & Energy Storage

As the global demand for batteries increases, so does the need to produce them sustainably. Our technical expertise, supply chain strength and project execution experience help clients navigate the battery value chain’s complexity. From mineral extraction studies, to facility design and construction, we create systems that will expedite the expansion of battery technology to accelerate the clean energy transition. Our expertise spans a variety of technologies, from battery chemicals to smart batteries and energy storage solutions.

Carbon Reduction

With decades of experience in carbon capture and asset decarbonization, we are helping our clients reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our expertise and technologies both lower emissions generated and prevent any emissions that are produced from entering the atmosphere.

A versatile gas with no carbon emissions, hydrogen is a clean alternative to fossil fuels. We are accelerating its adoption by working with clients to determine the most economically viable technology and execution solutions for hydrogen production, storage and transportation.

We have extensive experience working with all hydrogen types, including green hydrogen from renewably powered electrolysis or biomass gasification and blue hydrogen using carbon capture.

With nearly 100 million hours of safely completed nuclear work, Fluor is building a future where nuclear energy continues to play an important role in clean power. We also integrate renewable energy into facilities to create sustainable plant footprints.

Our nuclear project services capabilities include:

  • Small modular reactors (SMRs)

  • Nuclear new build

  • Nuclear operations & management

  • Nuclear power plant support services

  • Waste management

  • Laboratory management

  • Nuclear modernization

  • Site closure management

  • Decontamination & decommissioning

  • Environmental remediation

Renewable Fuels & Chemicals

We are committed to promoting renewable fuels as a pathway to decarbonization and energy security interests. By leading efforts to revamp existing refinery infrastructure and construct new facilities, we are accelerating the adoption of renewable fuels and chemicals, including biodiesel and sustainable aviation fuel.

Braya Renewable Fuels

Client: Braya Renewable Fuels
Location: Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Fluor provided engineering, procurement and site support services at the former Come By Chance refinery in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The idled 130,000 barrel-per-day refinery was converted into a renewable fuels facility that will process biomass feedstock, such as soybean oil, into renewable diesel. The facility aims to produce more sustainable fuels in line with North American climate targets.
