Executive Summary


Fluor was awarded an engineering alliance agreement in 2012 by Yara Belgium SA. In March 2017, Yara extended the alliance agreement by three years and expanded to include engineering, procurement and construction management services to support Yara’s global operations.

The agreement covered a diverse range of projects from front-end engineering and design to detailed engineering, procurement and construction management as part of a program management scope. Fluor’s Bergen Op Zoom office in the Netherlands and Yara’s project office in Brussels, Belgium managed the alliance.

Client's Challenge


Yara Belgium SA is Europe’s largest producer of ammonia and nitrate fertilizer. Yara delivers responsible solutions for sustainable agriculture to 20 million farmers worldwide while protecting the environment. In 2015, Yara helped its customers reduce 1.4 million tons of nitrogen oxide emissions.

Established in Oslo, Norway in 1905, the company has a worldwide presence including operations and offices in more than 50 countries.

Fluor's Solution


The Yara and Fluor Alliance began in 2012 with Fluor providing engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) to Yara’s operations in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Australia, Canada, Trinidad and Brazil. Fluor’s global alliance framework agreement with Yara was extended by three years and expanded to provide EPCm services to support Yara’s global operations.

The agreement covered a diverse range of projects from front-end engineering and design to detailed engineering, procurement and construction management as part of a program management scope.

The alliance allowed Yara to focus on delivering solutions for sustainable agriculture and the environment while Fluor ensured that Yara’s global facilities were operating at maximum capacity.

Conclusion


The Yara and Fluor alliance began in 2012, and in March 2017 was extended for another three years. Fluor’s scope expanded to provide engineering, procurement and construction management to support Yara’s global operations.
