Executive Summary
As the plant's original architect/engineer, Fluor provided engineering and procurement services for the two 550-MWe Westinghouse two-loop pressurized water reactors.
In addition, we were responsible for ongoing engineering, design, procurement and related services for plant modifications, improvements and maintenance services for Northern States Power's Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant.
Client's Challenge
With continuity as the original contractor, we continued to provide engineering services to the Prairie Island plant for preliminary and detailed design and cost estimating related to plant modifications and enhancements.
Fluor's Solution
Our scope included cost and schedule control, document control, quality assurance, quality control and start-up assistance. In addition, we provided licensing and pre-operational testing support for the units.
Projects have included a new security system installation, Bulletin 79-0lb component replacements, Bulletin 79-14 piping review, Three Mile Island-required modifications, Appendix R fire protection modifications and station blackout/electrical system enhancement modifications.
Conclusion
In addition to plant modification projects, we also provided emergency response team support.
