AES Solid-Fueled Power Plant - EPC

Fluor provided design, engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and commissioning services for this $800 million, 454-MW power facility in Puerto Rico.

The circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) combustion unit was installed under a lump sum contract and included installation of an electrostatic precipitator and a circulating dry scrubber to achieve extremely low emission levels.

  • The plant represents the first coal-fired power generating facility constructed on the island.
  • Fluor utilized “Zero Liquid Discharge Technology” to recycle wastewater, thereby conserving scarce freshwater resources.
