Executive Summary
Through our joint venture in Qatar, Qatar National Facility Services (QNFS), we are providing multi-discipline maintenance services to Qatar Shell at the Pearl gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
The facility, jointly developed by QP and Shell, is the largest gas-to-liquids facility in the world, capable of producing 140,000 barrels of GTL products per day and 120,000 barrels of oil per day of natural gas liquids (NGLs) and ethane.
Client's Challenge
Qatar Shell operates the world's largest gas-to-liquids plant in Ras Laffan, Qatar. The facility produces a range of high performing GTL products, from gasoil, kerosene and base oil to naphtha and normal paraffins for the petrochemicals industry. Some of the products are shipped to Shell's downstream operations, where they are transformed into premium products and sold to Shell customers. Others are sold to customers all over the world.

Fluor's Solution
QNFS, a Fluor joint venture, is providing multi-discipline maintenance services to Qatar Shell at the world's largest gas-to-liquids plant in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
Maintenance services include commissioning, start-up assistance, maintenance, inspections and integrity, unity turnarounds and planning of major turnarounds services. QNFS has used Fluor's integrated work process for operational readiness and start-up support.
There are 450 staff members supporting the project, which commenced in January 2010 and is ongoing. The joint venture is maximizing the use of local contractors, providing a positive impact to the local community, operations and reputation in the region. QNFS is optimizing the supply chain to deliver higher performance and reducing operating costs at the plant.

Conclusion
The Fluor joint venture is providing multi-discipline maintenance services on the QP-Shell Pearl GTL facility. Since January 2010, QNFS has been delivering benefits to Qatar Shell in the areas of equipment efficiency, reliability and availability.
The project to date has achieved more than five million work hours without a lost time incident.
