BASF Catalyst Plant Expansion
Client: BASF Polska Sp. z o.o.
Location: Sroda Slaska, Poland
Business Segment: Energy Solutions
Industry: Chemicals

Executive Summary
BASF selected Fluor for the expansion of its catalyst plant in Sroda Slaska, Poland. Our scope included the engineering and design, procurement and construction of an expansion of the existing catalyst plant.
The project expanded the production facilities by adding new production lines as well as new slurry preparation and storage to increase production capacity.
Client's Challenge
The catalyst plant was built to produce automotive catalyst coats for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and specialized equipment. The plant consists of production lines, slurry preparation, a quality control laboratory, an office building and other utilities.
The plant was built on a 15-hectare greenfield site in Legnica Economic Zone close to Wroclaw in Poland.
Fluor's Solution
We rendered a variety of integrated project management team (IPMT) services at different phases of the project. During temporary pre-work site preparation, we carried out IPMT services both on behalf of the client and also alongside the client working collectively. During the work, we contributed engineering management, the project development and design manual (PDDM) and quality assurance.
Our engineering team worked in numerous disciplines, including process, mechanical, piping, HVAC, instrumentation, electrical, construction and HSE.
In April 2015, BASF recognized Fluor with their Contractor Excellence Award for the earlier Quo Vadis project at Sroda Slaska.
Conclusion
The catalyst plant expansion project was successfully completed in 2019.
