Executive Summary

Petechim awarded Fluor the project management (PM) of the Bach Ho Compression Facilities and Platform project. We served as the client's technical representatives for the integration of all phases including detailed design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up.

Client's Challenge

The project consisted of five Solar Mars Compressors and three Centaur 40 engines driving an electrical generator on an offshore platform. The 7000-ton integrated deck facilities included a steel jacket in 50-meter water depth and compression of 8.1 million standard cubic meters per day at 2000 psi.

Fluor's Solution

As part of the final PM completion activities, we provided an extensive management training program to the three Vietnamese client companies incorporating process engineering, oil & gas production processing and gas treating processing.

This was our largest project management contract at the time, as well as the first Fluor contract with PetroVietnam.

Conclusion

The Bach Ho Gas Compressor Platform in offshore Vietnam was completed in 1997. This was the largest topside lift installed outside of the North Sea.
