Powering Today’s Energy Demand
Global energy demand is expected to double by 2050 (International Energy Agency). Fluor, a trusted partner in the power industry worldwide, is positioned to help our clients meet those needs by designing, building and maintaining power plants that use traditional, renewable and sustainable fuel sources.
Our experts understand the complexity of bringing new power plant construction projects online, providing turnaround services, maintaining environmental compliance and meeting sustainability goals.

Natural Gas
For more than 45 years, Fluor has been a leader in gas-fueled power generation with more than 50 gigawatts installed globally. Solutions include simple cycle, combined cycle and behind-the-meter/cogeneration facilities in various configurations.
As clients seek to convert existing coal-fired assets to natural gas, or incorporate hydrogen blending, we are enhancing boiler and balance-of-plant modifications to facilitate a safe and cost-effective transition to alternative fuel sources.

Nuclear Energy
Fluor has a long-standing presence in the nuclear energy industry, safely completing projects dating back to 1946. Today, we are building a better world where nuclear energy continues to play an important role in generating clean power.
Our nuclear project services capabilities include:
Small modular reactors (SMRs)
Conventional nuclear new build
Nuclear fusion technology
Operations & maintenance

Carbon Capture
With decades of experience in hydrogen production and carbon capture, we assist our clients reduce carbon intensity from new or existing generating assets. Our expertise and technologies not only lower emissions but also prevent any produced emissions from entering the atmosphere.
Fluor's Econamine FG Plus℠ post-combustion carbon capture technology has been successfully demonstrated for use in power plants worldwide. This includes 14 years of commercial operation at the Bellingham natural gas-fired power plant in Massachusetts.

Renewable Energy & Energy Storage
Fluor offers a full range of integrated solutions to bring utility-scale renewable energy projects from conceptual design to final completion and comprehensive operations and maintenance services for the life of the asset.
For battery storage additions, we have the experience to optimize, construct and update existing facilities to stabilize storage and output, providing valuable peaking capacity during times of energy demand.

Plant & Facility Services
Fluor has been a trusted partner in power plant site services for decades and currently maintains an on-site presence at over 45 power plants across the United States. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of in-plant capabilities, including our BestPLANT suite of services, which comprises of three pillars that build the foundation for ultimate site service and support:
Asset management technology
Maintenance & reliability
Capital project management
Our suite of services ensures that plants are continually operating at optimal levels of output and production by driving proactive maintenance and reliability methodologies into site operations.
With a customer-centric, reliability-focused business mindset, BestPLANT enhances the traditional commodity services model into one that is value-driven and focused on key customer metrics.

Dominion Virginia Greensville County Power Station
Client: Dominion Virginia Power (Dominion)
Location: Greensville County, VA, U.S.
The Greensville County Power Station was named Engineering Project of the Year by S&P Global Platts in its 2019 Global Energy Awards. Fluor provided engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services to build the largest and most efficient natural gas-fueled power station in Virginia after the successful completion of Dominion’s Bear Garden and Brunswick power stations. The 1,588-megawatt power station can produce enough electricity to power up to 400,000 homes at peak demand, providing Dominion with a cost-effective and reliable solution toward achieving federal clean-air standards.
