As a global company working in both developed and underdeveloped countries, we recognize how important it is to ensure that people have access to healthcare and critical human needs.
By participating in food programs and partnering with meal service delivery organizations across the globe, Fluor and our employees provided more than 865,000 meals to those who were hungry in 2021. In addition, community programs such as health care check-ups for the disadvantaged, disaster relief for those in crisis and emergency shelter for the domestically abused are some of the preventative and emergency services that were provided to more than 13,000 individuals as a result of Fluor and our employees' investments.
Some highlights of Fluor public health and critical human needs initiatives include:
Support for Afghan Evacuees and American Military Members, Veterans and Families
Fluor and the Fluor Foundation helped support Afghan evacuees arriving in the United States as well as members of the military impacted by the United States' withdrawal from Afghanistan. The Fluor Foundation donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross Afghan Evacuees and U.S. Military Support fund to assist in emergency shelter support for thousands of Afghan evacuees arriving in the United States.
In addition to supporting Afghan evacuees, the Red Cross provides care, assistance and emotional support to U.S. military members, veterans and their families, including those affected by events in Afghanistan.
Fluor also provided $25,000 to the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service's Neighbors in Need: Afghan Allies Fund to provide immediate support for food, housing assistance, clothing and other basic needs for Afghan evacuees arriving in the United States.
In the last few years, Fluor and our employees have contributed to crisis response efforts dedicated to Super Typhoon Rai (Odette) in the Philippines, tornadoes in the U.S. Midwest, floods in the Parwan Province of Afghanistan, Cyclone Idai in Mozambique, Keral floods in India, the Mocoa avalanche in Colombia, floods in Peru, wildfires in Canada and California, the earthquake in Nepal, floods and hurricanes along the U.S. Gulf Coast and floods and the Taal Volcano eruption in the Philippines.
Family Ration Kits
In 2021, Fluor's New Delhi office provided more than 425,000 meals to those families still impacted by COVID-19. Through Mission Salamati of the Deepalaya organization, Fluor India donated three rounds of ration kits to families hardest hit by the pandemic, primarily day laborers and construction workers. Each kit serves a family of four with food for one month.
