Fluor Invests in Preparing Students for Success.

Fluor believes science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education is a foundation for student success. We invest in programs that inspire and prepare students to excel in STEM and are committed to developing the next generation workforce, improving teacher effectiveness with emphasis on STEM student proficiency and persistence, and cultivating leadership skills in youth.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

Fluor invests in higher education and university programs, as well as those benefiting primary and secondary schools. In 2019, Fluor and its employees provided more than 250,000 students with over 1.3 million hours of STEM training and enrichment by investing in school-based curricular enhancements, outreach, and high quality out-of-school time activities. Examples include Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas STEM Journey and Young Scientist Day workshops and competitions in Poland.

Each year Fluor and its employees pay tribute to the world of engineering by participating in a variety of programs during Engineers Week, including the Fluor Friendly Competition, in which employees challenge each other in a global, company-wide engineering competition. As a part of Engineers Week celebrations, Fluor partners with Science Buddies for the Fluor Engineering Challenge. With the help of an expert team of scientists and educators, employee-developed Friendly Competition challenges have been adapted to become a truly hands-on and engaging experience designed specifically for students.

Global University Sponsorship Program

Through the Global University Sponsorship Program, Fluor sponsors annual grants and scholarships at selected universities with a focus on engineering, construction, and business programs. Through these partnerships, Fluor executive teams work with the universities to prepare students for tomorrow's global and technical workforce.

Leadership Skills in Youth

More than 17,000 young people received life-skills enrichment training as a result of Fluor's support of initiatives through organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America®, the YMCA®, and Junior Achievement USA®.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America

Fluor continues to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), supporting youth leadership, life skills and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) enrichment programming.

Fluor supports military-connected youth through the BGCA Teen Ambassador Training, which includes, Resiliency and Reintegration Training, the annual Military Leadership Institute, various mentorship opportunities, and participation in the National Military Leadership Council.

The initiative aims to build youth capacity in effective communication, resiliency, and teen retention in military programs, as well as ensure BGCA staff's ability to support youth in developing skills that will make them stronger, happier, and ultimately more resilient. To date, the Fluor‑sponsored programs have impacted more than 500,000 military teens.
