Fluor is widely recognized for its commitment to health, safety and the environment (HSE). Below are some recent certifications and awards Fluor has received for outstanding performance in the areas of HSE.

Gold Award in HSE Excellence and Environmental Excellence

In 2021, the KIPIC Al-Zour Oil Refinery Project was awarded the Gold Award for HSE Excellence and the Gold Award for Environmental Excellence from the American Society of Safety Professionals.

KIPIC CEO Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) Award

In 2020, the KIPIC Al-Zour Oil Refinery Project was awarded the KIPIC CEO Health, Safety and Environmental (HSSE) Award.

Gold Hard Hat HSE Award

In 2020, JGC Fluor and LNG Canada were jointly recognized by Shell with its Gold Hard Hat HSE award. The award recognized the LNG Canada project’s Design for Safe Construction program, which is focused on the elimination and significant reduction of hazards through design, providing an overall reduction to life-critical construction risk.

Dow Jones Sustainability Index

In 2018, Fluor was listed on the North America Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the fourth consecutive year. The honor comes following an in-depth analysis of financial material and economic, environmental and social practices by RobecoSAM's Corporate Sustainability Assessment.

National Safety Council Industry Leader Award

In 2018, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions was recognized by the National Safety Council as a 2018 Industry Leader Award winner. The award is presented to National Safety Council member companies that are within the top five percent of members who have also qualified for Occupational Excellence Achievement Awards in 2018.

Gold Award in HSE Excellence

In 2018, the American Society of Safety Engineers Kuwait Chapter honored the Kuwait National Petroleum Company Clean Fuels Program and the Kuwait Oil Company Project Management Consulting Contract project with its 2018 Gold Award in HSE Excellence.

2016 Business Roundtable

Fluor was among 133 companies featured in the 2016 Business Roundtable report, "Create. Grow. Sustain: People and Technology." The report details organization's innovative sustainability strategies globally.

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Recognition

The DOE VPP promotes safety and health excellence through cooperative efforts among labor, management, and government at DOE contractor sites. More than 15 Fluor projects have received recognition under this program, including the following:

VPP Star of Excellence

DOE recognized six Fluor Hanford projects in Richland, Washington, with the Star of Excellence Award for achieving injury rates at least 75 percent better than the industrial average. In 2017, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions received its 16th DOE Star of Excellence.

VPP Legacy of Stars

The Fluor Hanford Volpentest HAMMER Training & Education Center received DOE's highest VPP recognition – the Legacy of Stars Award, which is given to sites that have achieved the Star of Excellence rating for three consecutive years.

VPP Superior Star Award

DOE recognized the Fluor Hanford Safeguards & Security Project with the Superior Star Award for achieving injury rates of at least 50 percent better than the industry average.

CURT CISE Owner Safety Award

Stora Enso Guangxi Integral Project earned the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Owner Safety Award for Outside U.S. in 2017.

DOE Safest Laboratory Recognition

Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) in Aiken, S.C., placed as the safety leader in the DOE network of 15 national laboratories.

Engineering News-Record Excellence in Safety

Brunswick County Power Station in Freeman, Virginia, received the Excellence in Safety Best Project Award for the Mid-Atlantic Region from Engineering News Record.

Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award

RoSPA recognized Fluor Limited, U.K. with its Occupational Health and Safety Gold Award, which is presented to organizations sustaining high standards of HSE over consecutive years.

LEED Gold Certification

The Eagle P3 Commuter Rail Maintenance Facility was awarded LEED Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council in 2015. The 230,000-square-foot facility's sustainable features were evaluated based on the long-term environmental and fiscal impact benefiting the operation of the facility as well as the local community.

ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems Certification

This International Standards Organization (ISO) standard specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system, addressing environmental policy, organization, planning, performance, and auditing and review. Compliance with the standard is verified with a third-party review, expert panel review, or self-declaration. The standard includes a process for accreditation of procedures, giving the organization formal recognition.
