Fluor Corporation and our employees are dedicated to the communities in which we live and work. Since 1952, Fluor and the Fluor Foundation have contributed more than $210 million to nonprofit organizations and causes.
In 2020 alone, Fluor provided more than 1.2 million meals to those in need and reached more than 35,000 individuals with emergency and preventative services. Also in 2020, Fluor employees rolled up their sleeves and donated more than 24,000 hours to a variety of volunteer causes.
These efforts are directly linked to our Core Values of safety, integrity, teamwork and excellence—but more than that, giving back is part of our DNA.
In the last decade, Fluor and our employees have contributed to crisis response efforts dedicated to the floods in the Parwan Province of Afghanistan, Cyclone Idai in Mozambique, Keral floods in India, the Mocoa avalanche in Colombia, floods in Peru, fires in Canada, the earthquake in Nepal, floods and hurricanes along the U.S. Gulf Coast and floods, typhoons and the Taal Volcano in the Philippines.
"The Philippines is situated on both the Pacific Ring of Fire and the Typhoon Belt. Calamities are almost normal to us," said Angelo Catagin, a Fluor IT service delivery manager and chairperson for Fluor Cares in the Philippines. "For Fluor to be able to respond quickly when the unprecedented occurs, we organize donation drives in the office and also partner with a nongovernmental organization (NGO) that allows us to provide support to affected areas instantly. When the Taal Volcano erupted and Typhoon Rolly hit us, the funds we were able to raise from our Freedom Fridays – Handle with Care drive allowed us to donate relief packages to more than a hundred families. We also set up a mobile kitchen where Fluor volunteers cooked and served food to the evacuees."
Fluor volunteers in New Delhi distribute meal kits for families in need.
In the year 2020, Fluor and the Fluor Foundation donated more than $720,000 to COVID relief efforts around the world, including funding the development of low-cost testing kits for mass distribution by the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, India, and providing personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency food relief on five continents.
In August 2020, torrential rains triggered devastating flash flooding in the Parwan Province of Afghanistan. Fluor's team at Bagram Airfield assisted in the United States' humanitarian response effort. Fluor compiled 227,650 pounds of supplies ranging from plywood and mattresses to tarps and bottled water. Other essentials, such as blankets and kitchenware, were also included.
In 2021, Fluor employees have made contributions to international relief organizations that will be matched at 25% by the Fluor Foundation. This includes giving to organizations like World Vision, United Methodist Committee on Relief, Compassion International, International Rescue Committee and UNICEF.
Beyond contributions and volunteerism, Fluor and its employees actively support causes ranging from education, public health and critical human needs to economic development and the environment. Employees across the globe come together to share their time, talent and treasure to make a difference in China, the Netherlands, India, the Philippines, Canada, the United States and beyond. Together, Fluor is working to build a better world for all of us.
