New Streamlined SIV Process

If you are seeking a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) to the United States based on working for Fluor or other contractors in Afghanistan, the process has changed.

The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) has informed Fluor that it has a new streamlined process for SIV applicants. Fluor will no longer be issuing these documents to individuals. Instead, all of Fluor's documentation is being delivered to the DOD.

If You Do Not Have an SIV Case Number

  • Start an SIV application as soon as possible.
  • You do not need all of your documents to begin the process.
  • You can start the application by sending an email to: AfghanSIVapplication@state.gov.
  • Include as much information as you can (name, passport, Tazkira, company you worked for).

If You Haven't Received Employment Verification From Fluor

  • You do not need to wait for a reply.
  • Send your request directly to AfghanSIVapplication@state.gov.
  • Include as much information as you can (name, passport, Tazkira, company you worked for).
  • Apply as soon as possible so that the DOD can match your information with the information that Fluor is providing.

What Happens Next?

Applicants will be issued a National Visa Center SIV case number. This is issued by the U.S. Department of State National Visa Center. A National Visa Center SIV case number looks like this: NVCSIV###########.

You may check the status of your SIV case by sending an email to the US Department of State at: Afghaninquiries@state.gov.
