Roger W. Smith serves as vice president of corporate affairs, strategy & marketing, for Fluor Corporation, responsible for communications, strategic planning, marketing production, and commercial consulting functions.
In his previous role, Mr. Smith led Fluor's marketing and strategy functions, providing industry, competitor, regional, financial, and strategic analyses for executive and business-line management, with a focus on developing long-term strategies for the corporation.
Since joining Fluor in 1990, Mr. Smith has performed multiple project-related roles, serving clients in a variety of industries, including chemicals, food and beverage, gasification, power, and nuclear facilities. His experience throughout the project execution cycle includes design development, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, start-up, and operator training.
Mr. Smith chairs the Conference Board's Strategy Executives Council. He is a member of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth and serves on the American Petroleum Institute (API) Economics and Statistics Committee.
Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Cal Poly Pomona and a Master of Business Administration degree from California State University, Fullerton. He also holds a certificate of global business management from the University of Phoenix. He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of California.
