At Fluor, we believe if communities thrive, so do their businesses and residents. The stability of a community is affected by the condition of its infrastructure and its ability to attract and retain talent.
Fluor invests in community-building strategies and programs that strengthen society and encourage lasting change. We support initiatives that provide job training and build or refurbish affordable housing and community-serving facilities and programs that develop leadership skills and build character and resiliency in youth.
Last year, Fluor and its employees helped build and/or refurbish 66 homes and community-serving facilities through partnerships with organizations like Habitat for Humanity® and Gawad Kalinga. In addition, more than 205,000 young people received nearly 2 million hours of life-skills enrichment training as a result of Fluor’s support of initiatives through organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America®, the YMCA® and Junior Achievement USA®.
Some highlights of Fluor community and economic development initiatives include:
Boys & Girls Clubs of America
Fluor has partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), supporting youth leadership, life-skills and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) enrichment programming.
Fluor is currently in the middle of a multi-year partnership with BGCA in support of its initiative to support military-connected youth via the Teen Ambassador Resiliency and Reintegration Training. The initiative aims to build youth capacity in effective communication, resiliency, teen retention in military programs, as well as ensure staff’s ability to support youth in developing skills that will make them stronger, happier and ultimately more resilient. To date, the Fluor-sponsored programs have impacted more than 250,000 military teens and more than 5,800 adult staff professionals.
Habitat for Humanity
Fluor’s Calgary office has supported Habitat for Humanity's Women’s Build initiative since 2015. Many Habitat homes in Calgary are single parent, female-headed households and Women’s Build is an opportunity for women to help women. Fluor is a corporate sponsor of this initiative, supporting female employees who volunteer a full day at a designated build site.
