Fluor's presence in South Africa dates back to 1960 with the award of the Sasol Styrene Butadiene project and the construction of the Caltex Refinery in Cape Town.

In 1979, a permanent engineering office was established in Johannesburg. Today, the South African headquarters is based in Sandton and coordinates ongoing operations in Durban, Sasolburg and Secunda.

Fluor's South African office offers total engineering capabilities, from feasibility studies, front-end design to engineering, procurement and construction. Also provided are logistics and fire rebuilding expertise.

Extensive experience includes expertise in refinery revamps and mining projects. The main industries served are oil refining, chemicals, mining and power.

The company has undertaken assignments for most major African corporations including AECI, African Products, Anglo American, Anglovaal, BHP Billiton, BP, Caltex/Chevron, De Beers, Engen, Eskom, Hulett Aluminium, Iscor, PetroSA, Natref, Pillsbury, PPC, Rio Tinto, Samancor, Sasol, Shell, South African Breweries and Total.
