Tappan Zee Constructors LLC, comprised of Fluor Enterprises, Inc., American Bridge Company, Granite Construction Northeast, Inc., and Traylor Bros., Inc., formed a joint venture that combines local, national, and international experience to design and construct the Tappan Zee Bridge. The $3.1 billion innovative design of the 3.1-mile twin span cable-stayed bridge with angled main span towers is the single largest bridge construction project in New York’s history. The bridge will revitalize the existing Governor Malcolm Wilson Tappan Zee Toll Bridge that connects Rockland County to Westchester County over the Hudson River.
Tappan Zee Constructors LLC received an executed contract and notice to proceed (NTP) on January 18, 2013. The project is currently underway, and the team has established offices in Tarrytown, New York.
Construction will take approximately five years with completion projected for 2018; and the construction schedule will benefit from utilizing unique heavy lifting equipment that Fluor and its partner American Bridge own and had custom built for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge project.
