- Encompassed approximately 100,000 square feet each
- Assisted in procurement of long-lead equipment items and evaluation of contractor bids
- Assisted in integrating design requirements from all facility users and enhancing constructability with all of the client's contractors
Los Angeles County Fire Department

Fluor was selected to engineer, furnish, and install a major portion of the Fire Command and Control Facility and System.
- Served as design and construction manager for a 33,000 square-foot command and control facility
- Designed facility to function after natural disasters, including the ability to operate following a magnitude 8.3 earthquake
- Engineered, furnished, and installed a major portion of the fire and emergency communications system
- Upgraded approximately 23 major command and control subsystems

Fluor was selected to design and construct 911 Emergency System and Facility, the most comprehensive and sophisticated public system in the United States.
- Designed and constructed a 176-mile-long, fiber-optic communication network dedicated to police, fire, and other city facilities
- Installed mobile and portable data terminals (more than 3,000 such devices) which are connected to the computer-aided dispatch system
- Installed more than 100 radio transmitters and 600 radio receivers at 80 locations which are connected to the communications center
- Designed and built a 160,000 square-foot, high-security communications facility

Fluor was awarded contract to provide project management, A&E, and telecommunications engineering services for an Emergency Operations Center for Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments.
- Performed project management and provided A&E services, and telecommunications engineering services for design of the 82,000 square-foot Emergency Operations Center
- Designed facility for survivability, reliability, and the security of its occupants following a major incident or disaster, including earthquakes
- Designed facility to be powered by uninterruptible power systems and standby power generators enabling the facility to operate self-sufficiently for weeks, if necessary
- Provided communications links to more than 100 fire stations and to the Los Angeles Fire Department's radio network
- Designed facility to house all communications and computer systems needed to support critical Emergency Management services

Fluor was awarded the contract for the refurbishment and renovation of existing buildings for use as mobile switching centers.

Fluor was awarded the contract to provide project management services for a fiber-optic network.

Avantel
United States and Mexico
Fluor was selected to provide network design, fiber-optic cable installation, system integration, end-to-end testing, and system implementation for the long-distance telecommunications network between the United States and Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara, Mexico.
- Managed all outside plant facilities for a telephone/communications network between El Paso, Texas, and central Mexico
- Engineered, procured, constructed, and tested 5,457 km of fiber-optic cable
- Secured more than 7,000 permits and approvals
- Mobilized 5,000 people within a two-month period
- Compressed a 24-month schedule into 11 months
Level 3 Communications
North America
Fluor was selected to provide project management services for the buildout of the first Internet Protocol (IP)-based network across 14 major cities in North America.
- Executed a U.S. $592 million buildout (engineering, procurement, and construction) of a multi-conduit, fiber-optic cable system
- Performed buildout of inside plant facilities in 14 major metropolitan markets
- Installed 7 million linear feet of conduit
- Managed 650 subcontracts
London Underground Limited

Fluor was awarded the contract to assume total responsibility as managing contractor for the LUL Underground Connect Project.
- Executed a U.S. $500 million contract for a U.S. $2 billion project
- Designed and installed a new integrated two-way radio and transmission system across the entire London Underground network of 300 stations
- Designed the system to include 750 km of radio frequency (RF) cable and 320 km of fiber-optic cable
- Worked 1.5 million safe hours without a lost-time accident
