Minera Escondida Limitada operates an open-pit mine and two concentrators in northern Chile's Atacama Desert - one of the largest copper mines in the world.
- The sulphide leach facilities will process marginal grade ore using heap leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX/EW)
- The installed capacity will be 180,000 tpa of copper cathode
- The heap leach pad will be 4.9 km long, 2.0 km wide with an ultimate height of 126 meters
- The project includes a water supply system that desalinates water at the port of Coloso and pumps it to the mine site
