Cross-Country Pipelines

Trans-Alaska Pipeline, North Slope
Alaska, United States

Fluor performed engineering, procurement, and construction services following completion of a study and FEED package. Fluor was a major contractor for the technically and politically challenging Trans-Alaska pipeline that delivers North Slope oil to the Port of Valdez.

  • At the time of construction, the pipeline was the largest privately financed construction project ever attempted and the floating berth was the only semi-submersible pier structure in the world.
  • This 800-mile long arctic pipeline has a flow capability of 1.2 million bpd.
  • Construction of the marine terminal included four berths for ships with displacement of up to 250,000 tons.

Chad/Cameroon Oil Pipeline
Central Africa

Fluor worked with ExxonMobil as part of an integrated management team to implement a successful strategy for this complex project which was supported by the governments of Chad and Cameroon.

  • 30-inch, 1000-mile pipeline was constructed to transport Chad's oil across international boundaries to the west coast of Cameroon
  • Rigorous project requirements were met as set by the World Bank and ExxonMobil

Marine Terminals

LukOil Vysoskt Terminal Project
Gulf of Finland, Russia

Fluor provided FEED and program management for the development of two new tank farms, a marine jetty, a new railroad station and a newly dredged channel in the Gulf of Finland. Under a technical services agreement with LukOil, Fluor developed the Environmental Impact Assessment, assisted in the preparation of Health Safety and Environmental documents and recommended design modifications for compliance with the International Environmental and Safety standards.

  • Fluor served as the exclusive financial consultant for the project
  • Fluor performed EPC services for the terminal
  • This crude oil and petroleum products export terminal enables the client to ship up to 10 million tones of product per year

Ju'aymah Crude Oil Terminal
Saudi Arabia

Fluor engineered and managed the construction of the giant Ju'aymah crude oil terminal and LPG terminals. Initially, Fluor provided conceptual design for the onshore terminal, offshore platform and tanker moorings. In addition, we developed all preliminary engineering designs, equipment arrangements, and specifications for the construction material.

  • This project included five 56-inch subsea loading lines and six single-point mooring systems (SPMs)
  • An onshore pumping system provided crude oil loading at rates of 130,000 bbl per hour
  • A 24-leg metering platform was installed, along with a six-mile trestle to the LPG berths and a large tank farm

Valdez Oil Terminal
Alaska, United States

The Valdez Marine Terminal, located in Prince William Sound at Valdez, Alaska, is the southern terminus of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline system and is, by far, the largest crude oil tanker-loading terminal in the United States. Fluor provided preliminary engineering as well as engineering and procurement services for oil tanker vapor control facilities for the terminal. Fluor also prepared the environmental air quality permit application for the project.

  • This facility is the largest vapor recovery system in the United States for handling ship vapors resulting from oil-loading operations
  • This project made extensive use of innovations in design work processes to allow costs and meet aggressive budget goals
  • The project included major modifications to the berths, the addition of several large bore duplex stainless steel vapor collection pipelines, and integration into the existing tank vapor recovery system, including the upgrading of compressors

Subsea Pipelines

Angostura Project
Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean

Fluor provided detailed engineering to the Angostura development off the North Sea shore of Trinidad and Tobago. This development is located in an oil and gas field in 160 feet of water.

  • This project included flowlines and umbilicals between the central processing platform and the two well platforms
  • A 160-mile export oil line was also provided
  • A 30-inch sales oil pipeline transported the oil from the tank farm to a single-bouy mooring

Amoco Trinidad
Amoco Trinidad LNG
Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean

Fluor performed project management, engineering, procurement and construction management services for Amoco Trinidad's LNG Upstream Development Project.

  • Two offshore drilling and production platforms in 300 feet of water
  • Subamarine gas and condensate pipelines running 62 miles to shore
  • A 36-inch wide, 50-mile long cross-country gas pipeline and a 40,000 bpd condensate stabilization plant
