Fluor performed engineering, procurement, and construction services following completion of a study and FEED package. Fluor was a major contractor for the technically and politically challenging Trans-Alaska pipeline that delivers North Slope oil to the Port of Valdez.
- At the time of construction, the pipeline was the largest privately financed construction project ever attempted and the floating berth was the only semi-submersible pier structure in the world.
- This 800-mile long arctic pipeline has a flow capability of 1.2 million bpd.
- Construction of the marine terminal included four berths for ships with displacement of up to 250,000 tons.
