NGL Facilities

Fluor pioneered turbo-expander technology in 1963, and continues to develop new Natural Gas Liquid (NGL) recovery technologies for various gas stream compositions, conditions, and applications.

Fluor has:
  • Designed or constructed more than 70 turbo-expander plants during the past 30 years with capacities ranging from 30 to 2,500 MMSCFD
  • Executed projects with FEED gas pressures ranging from 60 to 2,500 pressure-per-square-inch gauge (psig)
  • Applied Fluor Cryo-Gas Process NGL turbo-expander plant technologies to achieve high ethane and propane recoveries with extremely low energy consumption
    • More than 90 percent ethane recovery
    • More than 99.7 percent propane recovery

LNG

Fluor's ability to combine LNG regasification expertise with world-class program management and team-building has placed Fluor in the forefront of LNG receiving terminal design. Fluor has developed a global capability that is un-matched in the industry by providing solutions for our clients' most complex LNG projects.

Our experience includes:
  • Program management of LNG liquefaction and regasification projects
  • Engineering services and technology evaluation for LNG projects both onshore and offshore
  • Development and use of patent-pending solutions for LNG regasification terminal sales gas heating value and composition control

Gas Treating Facilities

Fluor has engineered, constructed, or revamped more than 150 gas treating plants, with more than 74 of these plants using Fluor technology, Fluor has developed proprietary gas treating technology and also licenses commercial gas treating processes.

Our experience includes:
  • Unit capacities up to 547 MMSCFD
  • Feed gas pressures ranging from 50 to 2,000 psig

Sulfur Facilities

Fluor offers world-class expertise in all commercially-proven sulfur technologies. We have proprietary sulfur technology as well as the experience and expertise to provide optimum, cost-effective solutions to meet the most stringent emission requirements.

This includes:
  • More than 80 Claus-type sulfur recovery units
  • More than 75 tail gas treating units
  • Train sizes ranging from 10 to 1,000 tons per day (tpd)
  • Proprietary ammonia destruction, tail gas hydrogenation, and oxygen enrichment technologies

Carbon Dioxide Capture

In response to increasing concerns regarding greenhouse gas emissions, Fluor offers a high-efficiency patented process for the removal of CO2 from flue gas. The performance of the process has been successfully demonstrated with more than 23 plants licensed over the past 20 years.

To help clients meet greenhouse gas emissions requirements, Fluor offers an energy efficient proprietary process for the removal of Carbon Dioxide from flue gases. The Econamine FG PlusSM is an energy efficient and cost-effective process for the removal of Carbon Dioxide from low-pressure, oxygen-containing flue gas streams. The solvent formulation is specially designed to recover Carbon Dioxide from low oxygen-containing streams that are at near atmospheric pressure, such as burner flue gas streams. The process offers a post-combustion Carbon Dioxide capture option and is easy to retrofit to existing facilities.

Fluor is the only technology vendor with a long term commercial operating experience in CO2 recovery from flue gas with a very high oxygen concentration.

The implementation of our Econamine FG PlusSM process allows for the:

  • Recovery of 85 to 90% of carbon dioxide contained in flue gas
  • Treatment of gas from a pressure sensitive CO2 emitting source, such as a steam-methane reformer (SMR) flue gas line without any adverse effects
  • Recovery of ingredient quality liquid CO2 and feedstock for urea and methanol plants

Fluor licenses the Econamine FGSM Process and can offer EPCM services for the project.
