Our People

Attract, Motivate, and Retain Talent

Diversity and Inclusion are embedded in our value of teamwork. We share knowledge and resources to achieve excellence, deliver value, and grow as individuals and as a team. By respecting each others' perspectives and appreciating the uniqueness of each individual, we create a workplace that attracts, develops, and retains the most talented people based on performance.

For almost 100 years, Fluor has created a global work environment that values the diversity of our employees' backgrounds, worldviews, and experiences. We strive to create a culture in which all individuals feel valued, enabling them to contribute their fullest potential to achieve shared business objectives. The company's dedication to a discrimination-free and inclusive work environment increases employee commitment, productivity, and retention. Working to incorporate diversity and inclusion into all practices, Fluor designs and implements a comprehensive set of programs and processes to drive both enhanced representation and culture change.

Our main areas of focus are:

  • Leadership commitment
  • Employee involvement
  • Development, hiring and support
  • Learning and education and
  • Metrics, assessment and recognition

Some global endeavors to support our areas of focus include:

  • An extensive orientation program
  • A content-rich, online Diversity and Inclusion Resource Center
  • Monthly leadership messages and other employee communications that cover diversity and inclusion topics
  • A variety of formal and informal mentoring processes
  • A wide range of professional development tools and courses that include monitoring processes to complement on-the-job training and growth opportunities

We are proud to have received the U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission's “Freedom to Compete” Award for our Mentoring Circles Program. This award grants national recognition to companies who employ specific practices that produce and reflect commitment to access and inclusion in the workplace.

Showcased in the July 23, 2007 issue of FORTUNE magazine, Fluor has also been touted as a trendsetter. The article “The Hidden Workplace” points to Fluor as a “smart company,” recognizing the Mentoring Circles Program as an example of how we are working to ensure employee networking throughout the company.
