Employee giving takes different forms at various office locations around the world depending upon need and the number and type of agencies available to help. Whether in China, The Netherlands, India, the Philippines, or the United States, Fluor employees find effective ways to support their communities.
“As employees, it is amazing what we achieve together. It is like giving
twice — we give to the cause and as givers we receive so much in return.”
Former Fluor Marketing Manager;
Haarlem, The Netherlands

Each year, employees contribute to local community organizations by volunteering their time and talent to raise money. In North American locations, Fluor supports the United Way Make-A-Difference Program, in which it matches 50 cents for every dollar employees give to the United Way and other health and human services organizations. Employees pledge more than $2 million annually to the United Way and to agencies throughout the U.S. and Canada, which has grown to $3 million with the Make-A-Difference Program match. From these contributions, Fluor assists more than 75 United Way agencies and 800 health and human services organizations.

In past years, Fluor was presented the United Way of America Summit Award for outstanding commitment to strengthening communities through contributions of money and resources. The award is part of the Spirit of America® Awards program, the United Way's highest national tribute for corporate community involvement. Fluor was also a past recipient of the Summit Award for outstanding employee volunteerism for the many projects it supports and sponsors throughout the world.

In addition to annual employee giving campaigns, employees raise funds in many other ways, e.g., coordinating fundraising events, participating in "walkathons", or holding special appeals for disaster relief. In Greenville, South Carolina, for example, employees founded the annual Golf for Greenville tournament in 1989. This event has meaningfully impacted the Greenville community, raising more than $1.2 million to assist community organizations since its inception.

The Fluor Matching Gifts Program encourages employees to contribute to universities, colleges, and technical schools in the United States and Canada.
Under this program, Fluor also matches employee contributions to educational funds like the United Negro College Fund and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, groups whose sole purpose is to raise funds for its constituent institutions. It also matches employee gifts to any tax-exempt organization whose primary purpose is the collection of funds and issuance of academic scholarships for post-secondary education.
The Fluor Foundation matches gifts on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $5,000 per year for each employee. Under the program, more than 150 universities and organizations receive matching funds each year. Since the program was founded in1963 as the Employee Educational Gift Plan, Fluor matching gifts have totaled almost $10 million.
