For nearly 100 years, Fluor has developed and implemented proven processes and systems to execute some of the world's most complex and challenging projects. Instituting a higher level of quality assurance, these processes and systems are integrated and used consistently on projects – both large and small – by Fluor teams in their global offices and on project sites.
Project Management – Fluor's project management is responsible for developing project execution plans, detailed schedules, cost forecasts, progress tracking and reporting, and the integration of engineering, procurement, and construction.
Project Execution Systems – Business development and project execution begins with a clear understanding of Fluor's Operating Systems Requirements (OSR). This document is the company's quality manual, and documents basic quality and operating requirements. Each Business Group within Fluor develops Operating System Implementation Plans (OSIPs), further describing the OSR implementation within the business segment.
Projects OnLineSM – Project OnLineSM is Fluor's robust project collaboration and document management tool. The company uses Projects OnLine to engage the entire project team – including home office, site personnel, clients, vendors, fabricators, and suppliers – in communication and collaboration regardless of the team members' locations worldwide. As a powerful, combined solution, Projects OnLine enhances collaboration and the timely distribution of information throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Business Systems – In addition to commercial off-the-shelf software applications, Fluor has developed several proprietary business systems for executing projects. These systems include applications for use in project management, project controls, engineering, design, material management, contracting, construction, and knowledge management.
Tools – Fluor uses proven tools to manage and execute every project. Risk assessments are required on all projects. Fluor uses the Business Risk Management Framework as the formalized method for developing the assessments and risk mitigation plans.
The Project Execution Plan is the primary tool used to execute all Fluor projects. This document contains all requirements and plans for executing the project safely, on schedule, and within budget. Other tools include procedures, quality, and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) manuals, along with numerous checklists for each discipline involved in the project.
Local Knowledge – Because Fluor executes projects in more than 70 countries on six continents, it is imperative that the company understands what it takes from a regulatory, workforce, and cultural perspective. Fluor has experienced resources and systems located all over the world to support it in complying with country and regional laws and regulations.
Compliant Delivery – Fluor is committed to compliance with applicable export control laws and regulations in the execution of its projects. Fluor's compliance organization works closely with the Project Procurement and Logistics organizations to support daily supply-chain transactions.
Continuous Learning Environment – Knowledge OnLine is Fluor's knowledge management system that provides a global collaboration environment, access to company expertise, and extensive reference materials and templates. The company's 24/7 knowledge management tool contains all reference documents required to execute projects.
